Coloradans Spent Record ‘High’ On Marijuana In August 2015
Coloradans spent a record 'high' of $100 million on marijuana in August 2015.
In August alone, recreational marijuana sales reached $59.2 million, and medical marijuana sales totaled $41.4 million, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue.
More than $13 million in taxes, licenses, and fees on marijuana were collected in Colorado the same month - up 70% from August 2014.
According to the Department of Revenue website, "total marijuana tax revenue includes the 2.9% retail and medical marijuana sales tax, 10% retail marijuana special sales tax, 15% marijuana excise tax, and retail/medical marijuana application and license fees."
