Colorado Kids Stay Cozy Thanks to 1,000 Coats Donated by Firefighters
We are all enduring extreme temperatures here in Colorado right now. At the time of writing this, it is February 13. When I left for work this morning it was -11 degrees outside.
It was so cold outside that I could not lock my front door. I am very happy that I have a coat that keeps me warm during my bone-chilling commute.
There are a lot of folks out there who do not have that luxury.
Denver Firefighters Help Local Children
Many children do not have a go-to coat and are left without it. Denver firefighters stepped up to the plate to help their community.

CBS reports that Denver Firefighters Local 858 joined forces with Operation Warm and Teamsters Local 445 to give away 1,000 coats to children in Denver.
We want to give out a special shoutout to Michael Knect, a firefighter in the city of Denver. He spearheaded the Denver Firefighters' involvement with the donated coats.
Colorado Schools Receive Coats
Michael Knect spoke to 9News and said it feels great to give back to his community. 9News says that he is originally from Alaska and has a deep understanding of the importance of having a coat when temperatures are below freezing.
Last year, Knect and Denver firefighters donated 600 coats to children in the Denver metro. This year they were able to donate 1,000. We are curious to see what the goal for 2026 will be. Will it be 1,500?
We want to say thank you to Denver Firefighters Local 858 for giving back.
