From Fabulous Dreams To a Horrifying Reality

Has anyone ever had one of those dreams where you're doing something amazing and fun, only to wake up and realize the alarm is going off in 3 minutes, it's 3:40 am, and you start crying?

This has happened to me only a handful of times in my life, but I will never forget the memory for as long as I live. Because I went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in a mere realization.

Here are all the times I dreamt I was living my best life only to wake up and realize life sucks.

1. Water World

I went to bed fully aware I had a shift in the morning at the gas station Taco Bell. I had come to peace with it. I wasn't excited about it, spending the day explaining the difference between a chalupa and gordita to the trucks and elderly who just couldn't grasp the concept.

But then I went to bed and everything changed.

How does one get into such a deep sleep that they can hear, see, and even smell in their dreams? It happened to me only a few times, and this time I was at Water World on the perfect day.

We had a cooler pack with sandwiches. I could hear children laughing, and I could smell the food from the food places. I also had a six-pack, which should have tipped me off that this was a dream.

And then my alarm went off, and that moment I call the nut buster 5000. It hurts. And it really hurts knowing I waited in line for an hour holding a tube and then woke up to reality.

2. Mexico

This one is a real doozy. In Mexico, it's perfectly acceptable to be drunk and laughing at a swim-up bar at 8 am. In the work world, by 9:00 I've already had three pow-wows- 12 meetings and a few Zoom calls.

In Dreamland, you are all in for the 10:20 water aerobics class because YOLO.

And then the loudest sound you've ever heard in your entire life turns on, and you realize life isn't fair.
