We've all been there a time or two in our lives. We overslept, didn't set the alarm clock, or some other reason why we were late clocking in for work. Usually, many people will try to make up for lost time by pushing it past the posted speed limit.

There is speeding, then there is what one Colorado driver did that not only got them pulled over, but in some serious trouble with the law too. Deputy Whinery pulled the driver over in Douglas County, Colorado, for going 37 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 65.

The reason why the driver was going so fast surprised the Douglas County Sheriff's Officer. The driver told the sheriff's deputy that they were running late to get back to work from their lunch break.

The story was posted on X by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, stating they would be really late for work after the driver said this:

Just take my license and give me a ticket so I can get to work.

Speeding is a Crime That Could Land You in Jail in Colorado

Colorado law states that driving 25 miles per hour or more over the speed limit is a Class 2 misdemeanor traffic offense in the state. This means that the driver could be subject to a minimum of 10 days in jail, a $150 fine, or both.

The maximum penalty for driving this fast is 90 days in jail, a $300 fine, or both, plus other fines. I bet this driver, who thought they were above the law due to poor planning getting back to work wishes they had better managed their time.
