Scams are happening all the time. It seems like it is impossible to go a day without interacting with some sort of scam. Some are obvious, and others are more well done and tougher to catch. In today's society and with technology, scams are getting easier to pull off, and it makes it hard to trust anyone. Most people rarely answer their phone, texts, emails, or even the door, because they are worried that everyone is trying to scam them. Sadly, this is the way in today's world, and it makes it hard to trust anyone. A recent scam made the news that is targeting children and adults, and you need to be careful so you don't become a victim.
Pokémon Scam in Utah
Pokémon cards are a popular item these days, and many collect them. If you have ever been to a card show or to a store when a shipment comes in, you know that despite being around for decades, the cards are more popular now than ever before. Perhaps you owned some back in your childhood, or still have them sitting around in your garage or attic. Many children and adults still collect them, and it makes them prime targets to pull a scam on, which one woman recently did in Utah. A woman was arrested in Utah for selling fake Pokémon cards and was able to make thousands of dollars doing so before getting arrested. The woman sold fake cards to a seller for $4,500 before he realized they were counterfeit. The man then notified police and set up his friend to meet the woman to buy more cards, which is when she was arrested, trying to pull off the same scam. Fake Pokémon Cards in Colorado
While the story above happened in Utah, that doesn't mean it isn't happening in Colorado. Selling fake cards is a practice that has been ongoing for many years, and many will likely continue to do so, hoping to avoid detection. Printing fake cars is easier than ever before, and there are those who will do so to make quick cash. Perhaps you or your child have bought fake cars without knowing it. This isn't exclusive to only Pokémon cards, as fakes are printed for all types. If you question the authenticity of a card, it is best to take it to a nearby shop and see if they can verify it. Let this be a reminder that it is best to buy from shops or verified sellers online.

Be cautious when buying cards, especially online. Do your research, examine the card, and if in doubt, get an opinion from an expert. Hopefully, you don't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on cards only to find out they are fake, but if you do find out you have been scammed, make sure to contact authorities, so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
