Smaller 2025 TABOR Refunds Coming to Colorado Taxpayers
The number of working days in 2025 is dwindling ever so slightly, day by day. Soon, most Coloradans will be filing income taxes for the 2025 tax year. If you have lived in Colorado for several years, you have likely received a few TABOR refunds from the state.
What is TABOR in Colorado?
TABOR refunds come from the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights, which was approved in 1992. This constitutional amendment significantly restricts the state of Colorado's ability to raise and spend tax revenue.

Some of the benefits of the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights in the state of Colorado include the approval of voters for an increase in state taxes, putting limits on revenue growth that state governments can collect and keep each year, and the one part that everyone loves, a refund to the state's taxpayers if there is a surplus at a certain threshold.
Colorado taxpayers will be getting a TABOR refund for the 2025 tax year; however, KDVR says that you should not be preparing to go on a shopping spree, as the refunds will be reduced.
