Reported Bomb Threat at DIA on United Flight
Welp, it’s a Monday. It’s been reported by 9NEWS this morning that a fully boarded United Airlines plane at Denver International Airport, with at least 200 people on board, had to be evacuated Sunday night due to a “security threat.”
United Flight 2408, a flight from Denver to Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., was scanned and given a complete once-over last night and was given the all clear around 10 p.m. The passengers were treated pretty well, considering the rough circumstances, and were given food and water while the plane was being inspected.
Thank goodness the 200 passengers and seven crew members were all safe, and the flight took off safely from Denver International Airport without issue. Frankly, I think I would be too scared to board the plane again, especially since there has been no clear reason what the concern even was.
This has actually happened to me when coming home from San Diego, California, and getting me back on the plane was like getting a cat into a bath. But I really wanted to get back home and into my own bed, so I powered through the fear.
If this wasn’t jarring enough, it’s been reported that United Airlines has had a few safety concerns in the past few days. In one case, a mysterious beeping noise raised concerns of a possible bomb. Thankfully, that plane was also deemed safe after a thorough inspection.
How is a plane checked for explosives
- All passengers and crew members are immediately removed from the plane.
- After the plane is emptied out it's moved away from the airport for inspection.
- The police and TSA take over.
- Often bomb sniffing dogs are brought in.
- The plane is then given a thorough sweep, which includes checking under the seats, in the overhead bins, in the lavatory, and every other place there could be a threat.
It sounds like Denver International Airport was very on top of the situation, and the passengers and crew members ended up having a safe flight.
