This is a controversial subject from where I sit. I believe that too many people in general are over medicated and when I hear that 1 out of every 7 of our children are on some kind of emotional or behavioral medication it just makes me mad.

The results from the National Health Interview Survey indicate that seven and a half percent of children aged 6-17 were prescribed medication over the past six months for emotional or behavioral issues. The study also showed that more children on some kind of health assistance verses children with private or no insurance received these medications. And parents with children on these drug's mostly agreed that the medication was a huge help. The survey also noted that more boys than girls were medicated and that non-Hispanic white children were more likely to be prescribed emotional and behavioral medications.
