Windsor High School Adds a Salad Bar to the Cafeteria, Part of the First Lady’s ‘Let’s Move’ Initiative

Thanks to a Windsor High School student council member, a salad bar is now available at Windsor High School. 16-year-old Amanda Ricketson put together a video presentation about salad bars and nutrition, and with a little help from the director of nutrition services at the Windsor-Severance School District and a grant, a salad bar is now available at Windsor High School.
Getting healthier options into schools across the country, including salad bars, is part of First Lady, Michelle Obama’s ‘Let’s Move‘ initiative for healthier kids.
Windsor sophomore Brenden Renner, 16, said the students will have to get used to the longer lines, but he said the salad bar is pretty good.
“You get your own choice of what you want in your salad,” Brenden said.

According to the article, the school district received a grant for $2,800 for the new salad bar from the National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, United Fresh Produce Association Foundation and Whole Food Markets.
