My wife and I saw "The Sound of Music" last night at Midtown Arts Center.  I left the theater singing, "Doe, a deer, a female deer!" and I woke up this morning, singing "The Lonely Goatherd". The songs are so infectious! I blame Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and I also blame the brilliant cast.  We are lifetime members at Midtown Arts Center, but are constantly amazed at the caliber of talent that can be found at a dinner theater in Fort Collins.

Maria was played by Colleen Johnson, who has done theater across the U.S. She was perfect for the part.  She has beautiful voice and great comedic timing.  Not only did she convince us that the children and the Captain were falling in love with her in the show, she made the audience fall in love with her as well.

The children in the show were my favorite part. Each of the 7 kids are local and each are very talented and each brought something special to the production. Together, they were magical.  Their voices blended together so nicely, that it honestly brought tears to my eyes.  (Keep in mind I am a very sensitive man.)

The food is pretty darn good.  There was a chicken dish, a pork dish, a salad, or a veggie option.  My wife got the Chicken En Croute and liked it very much.  I went with a specialty entree.  I love their prime rib. You have to pay a little extra, but I feel it is well worth it.

There are just a couple weekends left for the Sound of Music. It runs through June 2nd. So if you would like to go, best buy your tickets very soon.  The musical "Hairspray" begins at Midtown Arts Center on June 8th.  I can't wait for that one.
