According to Airnow.gov, the air quality for Tuesday June 12, 2012 is ‘USG’ or ‘Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups’ because of the High Park Fire burning in the foothills beyond Fort Collins. They briefly describe that designation.

Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is not likely to be affected.

People with lung disease, the elderly and children are at risk from exposure to ozone, while people with lung or heart disease are at risk for airborne particles. Fort Collins and Greeley are the main areas with this index, but Loveland and other surrounding areas should consider the consequences of lower air quality over the next few days and weeks.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment have issued another Action Day Alert. Prolonged exertion, whether indoor or outdoor, should be avoided if possible today.
