Door to Door Magazine Sales – Beware of Scammers
The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has been notified of increased activity of door-to-door magazine salesmen in the Town of Wellington. Salesmen must have a Peddler’s License issued by the Town of Wellington. If you believe someone is a legitimate salesperson, they should have no problem with you requesting to see their license.
To check on the status of a salesperson’s license in Wellington, residents may call Wellington Town Hall at 970-568-3381. If someone is at your door after Town Hall business hours (M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), please call Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 970-416-1985 and an available Deputy will respond. Currently there are no legitimate groups licensed to sell in Wellington.
Many of the door-to-door magazine sales are only aimed at taking your money or obtaining bank account information and the magazines ordered will never arrive. Sheriff Justin Smith reminds citizens to NEVER let the sales people in your house and notify Larimer County Sheriff’s Office if you feel you have been the victim of a scam.
