The Silverthorne Police Department (SPD) had their hands full on Saturday (Jan. 9) when a runaway yak began roaming around the town.

According to CBS4, the animal escaped while the owner was attempting to load it into a livestock trailer.

However, the mischievous yak wasn't able to gallivant for long before officers "arrested" him.

"We added a new task to our Sergeants Job Descriptions …'Yak Wrangling,'" joked SPD Chief John Minor on Twitter.

The yak isn't the first animal to get in trouble with the law. In the summer of 2020, officers had to track down a runaway (or, walkaway) tortoise.

Thankfully, both of the creatures ended up safely at home with their families.
