Safewise, an online service that provides professional security reviews and crunches data provided by law enforcement, has come out with their top 20 safest cities in Colorado. They analyzed both property and violent crime rate in the entire state to develop their list.

They did note that "Colorado's property crime rate is slightly higher than the national average", the state average for violent crimes-such as murder, rape, and robbery-are below the national average. They cited an FBI crime report that shows these top 20 cities report 0.73 of violent crimes for every 1,000 people. Some cities on this list have an even lower rate.

Here are the safest cities in Northern Colorado:

#1. Windsor:
Population: 22,404
Violent Crime per 1,000: 0.13
Property Crimes per 1,000: 10.67

#11. Johnstown:
Population: 16,143
Violent Crime per 1,000: 0.81
Property Crimes per 1,000: 7.06

#15. Estes Park:
Population: 6,335
Violent crime per 1,000: 0.95
Property Crimes per 1,000: 11.37
