Why Winter Park Is Colorado’s Most Dog-Friendly Ski Resort
Whether it's taking our dogs with us on outdoor adventures or to a local brewery for the day, the canine companions of Colorado sure do get around!
Even in the wintertime, many Coloradans still bring their dogs along when venturing out for fun in the snowy weather. Some pups love to get their paws on powder alongside their humans while doing things such as snowshoeing or cross-country skiing - it's great exercise for both parties and avoids having to leave them cooped up during the colder months.
With plenty of pet-friendly lodging options and activities, Winter Park is by far the most welcoming of dogs when it comes to Colorado's ski resorts.
While dogs can't ride on the ski lifts, they can join on the slopes for uphill adventures. Situated next to the base of the resort, Fraser River Trail is a great spot to snowshoe, walk, or cross-country ski with your pup.
Dogs are allowed on-leash inside many shops throughout the Village, including Goody's Creperie, Lime Cantina, and the Starbucks even offers pupaccinos to pooches who stop in. The Vintage Hotel, which is conveniently located at the resort's base, is pet-friendly, and has dog treats upon arrival at the front desk. Winter Park Mountain Lodge is another place that allows furry visitors. Dogs are welcome to ride the nearby Cabriolet too.
At Winter Park, humans' furry sidekicks can even get their own personal Pet Pass. The pass is granted by making a donation of any amount to the Grand County Pet Pals, which is a segment of the Grand County Animal Shelter. The canine credentials don't actually allow dogs lift access, but they will receive an official season pass souvenir complete with an identification photo and you're helping local animals in need.
