Townsquare Media’s High School MVP: Cora Schissler, Platte Valley High School
The Schissler family got to experience quite a magical moment together at the recent Class 3A girls state basketball last weekend.
Platte Valley High School beat Lutheran 51-44 to win the state title at Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs. Mom Tonya Schissler is the head coach and her daughters Cora and Andi are both key for the Broncos.
Cora led all scorers in the state title game with 15 points, including eight clutch points in the fourth quarter. She's this week's Townsquare Media High School MVP.
Andi added in eight points as Platte Valley won its first girls state basketball title since 2004. The Broncos went 16-1 on the season and won it final 14 games.
Cora, a junior, and Andi, a sophomore, both are eligible to return to the court for Platte Valley next year. Maybe more family memories are coming on the horizon.
Cora, who is pursuing a collegiate basketball career, averaged a team-high 12.9 points per game. Andi averaged 9 points per game.
