Colorado Drivers Lose Licenses For Reasons Beyond Drunk Driving
Driving drunk or high will definitely get your license taken away in a flash. But doesn't everyone know that?
What else will get your driver's license swiped in Northern Colorado quicker than " All Get Out"? Let's take a look.
Too many points
No surprise, if you rack up too many offenses and lose too many points within a certain period, your license could definitely be taken away. But here's a fun fact: It's also dependent on your age. That means younger folks could lose their driving freedom when fewer points are lost.
Insurance
We all know insurance is sooooo expensive, but you have to have it to operate a vehicle in Northern Colorado...or anywhere, really. But this one could mean more than having your driver's license snatched. Odds are you're also going to get a ticket. Depending on the situation, you may need to obtain an SR-22 and keep it for a certain period, often up to 3 years. Yikes.
Child Support
This one was definitely the most surprising to me. If you fall behind on child support, the Colorado Child Support can move to have your license suspended.
Traffic Tickets
This one wasn't very surprising because, of course, if you get too many citations and don't pay them, the Colorado DMV could come after your driver's license. Keep in mind this also includes tickets you may have accrued in other states, not just Colorado.
DUI or DWAI-related trouble
Alcohol or drug offenses could definitely lead the Colorado DMV to confiscate your driver's license. Obviously.
So keep your nose clean, and beware: your driver's license could be gone in a flash if you break the rules.
