Tag Ridings Wins TPC Colorado Championship With 2 Hole Playoff
It was a fabulous weekend of golf at Heron Lakes for the TPC Colorado Championship, and it was capped off in exciting fashion as the 46-year-old Tag Ridings took home the trophy along with some serious cash and a shot at his PGA Tour Card.
Ridings emerged from a crazy final round and a three-man playoff with his second victory in what was the 477th start in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Ridings’ only other victory came at the 2002 WNB Golf Classic, formerly a Korn Ferry Tour event in Midland, Texas. He also won that tournament in a sudden-death playoff, holing a 138-yard wedge shot for eagle to defeat Mark Hensby.
Ridings final round comeback on Sunday was thanks to a 4 under par that he shot and sunk with some crucial putts. When the pressure was on, he was at his best.
While I'm not the biggest golf expert, it was so awesome to be a part of this event and to watch some of the best golfers in the world do their thing at such a high level. I went golfing once in my life and shot a 72...in FOUR holes...so I can truly appreciate these guys and the sport of golf, which is NOT easy.
Not only that, but just being on that incredibly beautiful course and walking around provided a stunning view. I walked the entire course and got in about 10 miles while being surrounded by Colorado's natural beauty.
Including the tournament at Heron Lakes, Ridings now has three top 25 finishes this season on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Here's a little glimpse into the beauty of this golf course at Heron Lakes; I had a blast just going from hole to hole watching these professionals and taking in the scenery.
