Strength & Electricity: Rams & Eagles on the Road, Must-See Games

The Colorado Eagles head to Nevada for their first match-up of the regular season, and the Rams head to Albuquerque for their second regular-season game as they sit at the top of the Mountain West.

Yes, the Rams have only played one game, albeit against the defending Mountain West champion San Jose State, but things are looking good for them as they head out to take on the New Mexico Lobos.

As far as the Eagles go, they were electric and balanced on the ice for their preseason games against San Jose, so things are also looking up for them!

Will Colorado State maintain their passing productivity going into this weekend?

Honestly, I hope so. Admittedly, it's hard to say that with full confidence. As we have now seen, when the Rams are on, they are on. In last week's game against the Spartans, the Rams were truly firing on all cylinders and looked strong on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Todd Centeio was given the extra one or two seconds he needed in the pocket to throw one of the best games of his career. CSU's special teams was on fire with both punter Ryan Stonehouse and kicker Cayden Camper setting new school records.

What do the Rams need to do to get the same outcome they did against San Jose State?

The offensive line needs to hold. They did a great job at not just protecting Centeio in the pocket but also keeping themselves honest when it came to unnecessary penalties. As we saw in CSU's game against South Dakota State and Vanderbilt especially, both offense and defense for CSU had a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot.

The Eagles will most likely dominate the ice against the Henderson Silver Knights.

The Eagles looked like a team that has meshed and played together for years. Once they found their pace with each other, they looked like a well-oiled machine.

Their offensive play was aggressive and productive, and that's hard to beat. Against the San Jose Barracuda, Colorado forced the Barracuda's backs against the walls for almost the entire game.

Going out to Nevada, they will be playing against an almost entirely reconstructed Henderson team. I believe the Eagles will catch them and keep them just as much on their heels as they did against San Jose.

Tons of sports to watch this weekend, and I promise each game will be worth your while. Keep an eye on the Eagles as they come back for their regular-season home opener on Friday, Oct. 22, and Saturday, Oct. 23 to take on the Barracuda once again.

The Rams will also be returning to Fort Collins on Saturday, Oct. 30 against Boise State, which is a match-up that Ram fans have been yearning to finally be on the winning side of.
