Senior Brecken Sawyer nailed a last-minute, game-winning field goal on Saturday afternoon, leading Johnstown's Roosevelt High School to a 17-16 Class 3A state tournament football victory.
Cooper Walton rushed for two Roughriders touchdowns. Top-seeded Roosevelt next faces No. 4 Pueblo South High School.
Fellow Northern Colorado schools Loveland, Resurrection Christian and Eaton all advanced as well. Loveland will face No. 1 Dakota Ridge in Class 4A. The Cougars and Reds will next face off next week in the Class 2A semifinals.
