A service dog being trained for a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder went missing from a backyard in Colorado Springs - and the trainer believes he was stolen.

The 2-year-old German Shepherd-husky mix, named Hero, went missing from the house on Murdoch Drive on Tuesday sometime between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., according to Mountain High Service Dogs trainer Anthony Archer - a veteran himself. Archer told KRDO that Hero isn't known to run away and there were no signs of escape.

Beverly Couzens Archer posted photos of Hero on Facebook, which can be viewed here.

The Archers and Mountain High Service Dogs want Hero to be returned safely - no questions asked.
