REI is one of the most popular stores in Colorado. The outdoor retail store opened its first location in 1983 and has been consistently adding locations ever since. You might remember REI opening their Loveland location last year.

REI Loveland Was the 10th—Now Durango Is Next

The Loveland location was the 10th location in Colorado. REI is now officially set to open its eleventh location. The 11th co-op will open in 2025.

REI Announces New 22,000-Square-Foot Durango Store

REI announced in a press release that they will open a 22,000-square-foot location in Durango this summer. REI did not provide an exact date for the grand opening, but they did say that it will for sure open this summer.

What to Expect at REI Durango

The new location will be on 40 Turner Driver and will offer climbing, camping, hiking, cycling, kayaking, and other outdoor gear. There will also be a full-service bike shop as well as a seasonal ski and snowboard shop.

Great News for Durango Skiers and Snowboarders

In addition to the ski and snowboard shop, there will also be a service center for skiing and snowboarding equipment.

This is great because Chapman Hill and Purgatory Resort are right by Durango. This new location offers more variety for skiing and snowboarders in Colorado.

REI Expands Beyond Colorado

Colorado is not the only state getting new REI stores. In the press release, the company will open a total of eight locations nationwide.

REI will now have eleven Colorado locations. It truly seems like one of those companies that will continue to expand around the state.
