When you live in Colorado you can take your surroundings for granted. Sometimes I forget about all of the amazing outdoor recreation that our state has to offer. I have found that I have forgotten about outdoor recreation nearly entirely this summer.

That was until I received a gift that re-ignited my enthusiasm to seek out new experiences.

Around the holidays last year, my girlfriend and I were gifted rafting trips for Mountain Whitewater & Paddler's Club in Fort Collins.

We went on a half-day trip down the Poudre River. We started our day at their facility in Fort Collins. Paddler's Club has an extremely laid-back vibe and you can stop by their tent for a beer, a snack, or get your hands on some merchandise early.

There is plenty of seating around their outdoor complex so you can spend some time with your family and friends beforehand.

There is also a stage, a volleyball court, and a playground for the kids.

We checked in and met for an instructional lesson that lasted for 10 minutes or so. I felt extremely prepared and ready for a fun day of river rafting.

After our meeting, we were given life jackets and a helmet then we all jumped on a school bus for the drive out to the river.

We were assigned guides and off for our adventure.

Our guide's name was Kramer. I have to tell you: Kramer was awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable about the river and guided us through a memorable experience.

I went rafting quite a bit when I was a kid, but it was my first time going on a whitewater rafting trip. I loved it and I am already planning on making a trip next summer.
