Photo Radar and Red Light Cameras in Loveland, Colorado
The City of Loveland will be taking delivery of a photo enforcement vehicle and begin the installation of red light camera systems to crack down on unsafe driving. The red light cameras will be installed at three intersections in Loveland.
- East Eisenhower Boulevard at Boise Street
- West 1st Street at Taft Avenue
- North Garfield Avenue at East 57th Street
Photo radar enforcement will be aiming for excessive speeding and enforcement locations will vary based on community complaints, existing roadway speed data, and collision risk areas. These mobile photo radar enforcement vehicles can only be used in certain areas, however. Those areas include:
- Designated school zones
- Designated construction zones
- On streets that border a municipal park
- On a residential street with speed limits of 35 mph or less
The City of Loveland will begin utilizing these two new means of enforcement starting on January 15, 2025. There will be a 30 warning period when photo radar and red light enforcement begins. After the 30-day warning period, citations with fines will be issued.
Red light violations will count as a civil infraction and carry a $75 fine with no points against a Colorado driver's license. Speed violations will also count as a civil infraction and have a $40 fine.
