Northwest Grocery Chain Planning Second Colorado Location

I have lived all over the United States in my twenties. East coast, west coast, my heart will always remain in Colorado. Growing up in the Centennial State is awesome, but I will say, there are some things you only get to experience when living in a different part of the country.

One of those things is grocery stores. After living in numerous states, I have always been partial to one particular chain in each state. When I was living in Florida, it was Publix. When we lived in Oregon, it was Winco Foods. Nowadays living in Northern Colorado, I kind of miss those grocery stores.

While Publix hasn't moved out of the southern region of the United States, Winco has planned on expanding to Colorado. The first announcement of Winco Foods was revealed earlier this month at a possible location in Firestone, Colorado.

We are learning that Winco Foods will not just stop at one location. According to the City of Thornton, another Winco Foods location is in the works. Paperwork has been filed for a location at 164th Avenue and Washinton Street, which is on the southeast intersection of Interstate 25 and Colorado State Highway 7.

Winco Foods is Coming to Colorado

It has been years since I stepped foot inside Winco Foods. I loved the fact that it was open 24 hours a day and sold food in bulk—think of drums full of rice, flour, cereal, and more. One thing that Coloradans might not like about Winco is that you will have to bag your own groceries. However, if you are like me and use self-checkout, you are bagging your own groceries anyway.

Now that there are plans for two Winco Foods locations in Colorado, I am hopeful that a location in Johnstown, Loveland, Fort Collins, or Greeley will soon be in the mix too.
