Last night was a special sight to see in the skies of Northern Colorado. Seemingly, with little warning, the sky lit up with the Aurora Borealis. This phenomenon occurs when solar flares from the sun collide with the atmosphere of Earth, bringing an out-of-this-world sight to us humans.

Last night, at around 6 p.m., my sister called me, I picked up, and it sounded like she was in a panic, telling me to go outside right now and look north. I went to the parking lot, and I could see a faint glow of pink in the sky.

When I used my phone's camera, this is where the magic was really visible. Greens, reds, and pink could all be seen in the photo, even with the light pollution.

Of course, we wanted to make sure those of you in Northern Colorado got to witness this amazing and rare sight, too, so we hopped on Facebook to let you know that the Northern Lights were taking place.
