If you have lived in Colorado for any amount of time in recent years, you know that most of the desirable places to live in Northern Colorado are not cheap by any means.

Rent can be crazy expensive for a simple studio apartment, but the trade-off is that you could be close to whatever it is you are into. Like going out on the weekend in Old Town Fort Collins? It's going to cost you to live close to the amenities that you want.

The same goes for cities and towns such as Loveland, Greeley, and Windsor. Speaking of Windsor, this once small farming town in Weld County on the east side of Interstate 25 has had a housing boom and a population explosion over the past few years.

Which Northern Colorado Town Is the Cheapest for Rent?

A quick Google search got me wondering, which of these Northern Colorado towns is the cheapst place to live when it comes to apartments? The answer might surprise you.

One would figure that the biggest of the four communities would be the most expensive, right? Close, but not correct. We'll break down how much someone can expect to pay for a studio, one-bedroom, and a three-bedroom apartment in each city.

Apartment Prices in Fort Collins, Colorado

Many people I know feel that Fort Collins is expensive by default due to the sheer size compared to other cities, the location of Colorado State University, and the number of tech jobs and companies located in the Choice City.

  • Studio Apartment - $1,346 per month, average.
  • One Bedroom Apartment - $1,565 per month, average.
  • Three Bedroom Apartment - $2,100 per month, average.

Apartment Prices in Loveland, Colorado

Just down the road, a few miles south, is Loveland. There is plenty to do in downtown Loveland, and I venture there to have dinner or a drink fairly often. There are plenty of apartments, and more are being built every day.

  • Studio Apartment - $1,433 per month, average.
  • One Bedroom Apartment - $1,529 per month, average.
  • Three Bedroom Apartment - $2,350 per month, average.

Apartment Prices in Windsor, Colorado

As we've said before, Windsor is experiencing growth like we have not seen in a long time in a small town. Communities such as Water Valley and Raindance have brought in many new families and residents to this Weld County town.

  • Studio Apartment - $1,489 per month, average.
  • One Bedroom Apartment - $1,511 per month, average.
  • Three Bedroom Apartment - $2,383 per month, average.

Apartment Prices in Greeley, Colorado

Greeley is also having a moment of its own when it comes to growth and increased population. Many people are flocking to what is considered a cheaper alternative to Fort Collins and Loveland. However, prices are showing that Greeley isn't a secret spot just for locals in 2025.

  • Studio Apartment - $1,082 per month, average.
  • One Bedroom Apartment - $1,303 per month, average.
  • Three Bedroom Apartment - $1,900 per month, average.
