From ‘Aloha’ to ‘Hola:’ Look Inside Windsor’s New Mexican Restaurant
It was late 2020, that Okole Maluna closed after 16 years. For a brief stint, there was an Asian place at the location; now, Cancun Mexican Grill & Cantina has come to town.
Everyone loved Okole Maluna, at the corner of Main Street and 7th Street in Downtown Windsor, many were happy that they were able to move onto their next adventure, but very sad to see them leave. This new Mexican spot may be able to heal that wound.
We let you know in December of 2021, a year after Okole Maluna had closed, that a new Mexican restaurant was on its way to town. They've been in Greeley for many years and also have a location in Fort Collins; they bring plenty of experience and authenticity to Windsor. Unlike Azu Asian, that was in the location from January of 2021 to August of 2021, I really feel that Cancun will be in Windsor for many years to come.
Word got out that Cancun Mexican Grill & Cantina had opened, and I was eager to get over there and check out, considering our radio stations are just one block away. They officially opened on June 11, 2022; I stopped in on a busy Thursday night, June 16, 2022.
I honestly thought, because they were so busy, that it was their first night, when I was there. It was crazy busy, and that's great.

Just a quick shot of the crowd that was there when I arrived.
I did go back the next day to get some pictures of Cancun. Where Okole Maluna had a lot of tables, Cancun has tables and booths.
This is one of two big booths that Cancun has.
Speaking of seating, you'll find Cancun has tables outside, as well.
This great picture hangs above the east booth.
A few people were gathered at that east booth when I went in, one person was enjoying a margarita. They're very tasty.
This fish reminds me of how Okole Maluna used to have a big aquarium in the back of their restaurant. There are more than a few of these fish at Cancun; they're fun.
There's about six stools at the bar.
I was intrigued by these mugs, so I asked what they serve in them. Turns out they serve Cantaritos, a Mexican drink made with grapefruit soda and tequila, in them. They sound delicious.
I ordered the flautas. They were very, very good. Welcome to town, Gang.
