
New Belgium Releasing Original Favorite in Limited Release
When you grow up in Colorado, your first beer is probably going to be quite a bit different than those who live in some other state. Craft beer is a way of life in our state, and there are hundreds of craft breweries to choose from.
A Colorado Craft Beer Original
One of those craft breweries opened many Coloradans' eyes to the different beer options available. If you are anything like me, your first sip of craft beer was probably from a bottle of Fat Tire from New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins.

In 2023, New Belgium changed out the original Fat Tire recipe to a light blonde ale. With the change to the recipe came an overhaul of the beer's graphic design. Only the name stayed the same.
Original Fat Tire Recipe Is Returning
Back in February 2026, we told you about the possibility of Fat Tire returning with its original amber ale recipe. Many were speculating on whether or not it was going to happen, and today, we now know the truth.
New Belgium posted on Instagram that the original recipe for Fat Tire will be returning. Along with Fat Tire, two other New Belgium original staples will also be available once more: Sunshine Wheat and Blue Paddle.

These three original beers from New Belgium are in celebration of the brewery's 35th anniversary and will be a limited release. Fat Tire Amber Ale will be available in six packs, and the variety pack, which includes Fat Tire, Sunshine Wheat, and Blue Paddle, will also be available in six packs.
When You Can Buy Original Fat Tire
You will be able to find the original Fat Tire recipe and the New Belgium variety six packs at your favorite Northern Colorado liquor stores starting on May 4, 2026.
