Many people in Colorado have motorcycles, ranging from Harleys to crotch rockets and everything in between. Some are built for speed, while others are solely used to enjoy the open roads.

Chances are, you have probably seen a motorcycle whiz by on the interstate and felt a bit jealous that they can sail through traffic so easily. This might be dangerous to some; however, some motorcyclists thrive on that feeling of adrenaline.

Occasionally, you may see a motorcyclist pop a wheelie to show off their skills or impress a kid in the passenger seat of an SUV, but is it legal for a motorcycle rider to do so?
That answer is no, not on public roads. A motorcycle performing a wheelie on public roads in the state of Colorado is illegal, and if the rider is caught doing one, they can be pulled over and ticketed for the offense with a careless driving or reckless driving charge.

Some law enforcement agencies in the state of Colorado also have local ordinances that prohibit exhibition driving, stunting, and operating a vehicle with less than all wheels in contact with the ground.

If you happen to be a newer motorcycle rider and have aspirations of doing wheelies in traffic, you might want to curb those goals and dreams. It's illegal, it can get you in legal trouble, or worse. Injured or killed while doing the stunt.
