Colorado State Representative Gordon Klingenschmitt of Colorado Springs said of the stabbing and baby theft in mid March that it amounted to punishment from God for laws allowing abortion.

According to 9News, Klingenschmitt and his charity donated $1,000 to the family of 26-year-old Michelle Wilkins. The family has refunded the donation.

Wilkins was 7 months pregnant when she answered a Craigslist ad for baby clothes. A former nurses aide, 34-year-old Dynel Lane reportedly cut Wilkins stomach open and stole the baby, who did not survive. Wilkins was treated at a hospital and is now in a safe place with family and friends.

Lane will not face murder charges and is being held on a $2 million dollar bond.
