On Friday afternoon, a Longmont girl was on a bike ride with her stepfather when she was hit by a truck making a right hand turn on Friday, May 20.

The little girl was taken to the hospital, but she died later that afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. and the driver was a 20-year-old male who did not flee the scene, but who fully cooperated with police.

It's not known entirely who was at fault, though in a story by Fox 31 a witness said that the little girl rode out into the street after the truck had already started turning.  You can read more here.

Our thoughts and prayers are both with the little girl's family and the driver of the pickup truck.

We will update as more information becomes available.
