Lace em' up, get outside, and get rolling. Sure ice skating rinks are awesome but what happens in the summer? Those rinks usually are gone and turn into an empty space or just sit there abandoned but thanks to some awesome people, this ice rink by winter is turning into a roller skating rink this summer in Denver.

Skyline Park, located at 16th and Arapahoe in Downtown Denver is hosting a free skate area that is being sponsored by Southwest Airlines for all to enjoy. Well, let me clarify, it's totally free if you have your own roller skates, if you need to rent some, it's only $7 for kids 12 and under and $9 for adults).

Roller derby anyone? As awesome as that would be, that will more than likely be frowned upon and you'll be asked to leave if you start banging people in and over walls but you will be able to skate around and bring back some fond memories of days past spending those weekends at the roller rink.

I'm not sure if there's going to be any music involved but how neat would it be if we had our sister station Retro 102.5 out there playing all of your favorites from the 70s, 80s, and more to add to the atmosphere?

Downtown Denver Partnership’s senior vice president of Downtown Experience Sharon Alton had this to say in a recent press release:

“We’ve seen so much success with the Downtown Denver Rink during the winter months and wanted to find a way to bring that same experience to downtown employees, residents and visitors during the summer."

Let's hope so because this sounds like a blast and a great way to get some exercise.
