How Much Trouble Gets A Kid Expelled From School In 2026
I have a very embarrassing confession. When I was in middle school at Wellington Middle School, I was with a group of girls who stole books from the book fair. My mom still brings it up to this day.
As cringy as it sounds, for robbing the damn school book fair, I was lucky and only got in-school suspension. Essentially, I had to sit in an empty room all day long. That actually sounds pretty great now.
If stealing books from the book fair didn't get me expelled, what would it take to get the boot?
What will get your child expelled in 2026
- The first one is pretty crazy to think about. If your child brings a gun to school, needless to say, that's an automatic expulsion. And it isn't just guns; any dangerous weapon, from knives to tasers, will get you sent home.
- Selling drugs or getting caught with drugs is obviously a big no-no. Also, if your child is under the influence at school, they could be expelled.
- Major disruptions will repeatedly get you on the expulsion list. If your kid has three major episodes, they might get pulled.
- No vandalism. Spray paint a wall? Expulsion. Write someone's phone number on a bathroom stall? Expelled. Throw eggs at the school bus? Expelled.
- Obviously, the schools are against robbery and/or assault and will definitely get a kid kicked out of school for obvious reasons. You can't just go around stealing. Unless it's from a book fair. Just kidding.
Whether your kid attends school in Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, or anywhere else in Northern Colorado, the rules are the rules. Fingers crossed your child has an expulsion-free school year.
