The company behind the cups, r.World, produces the r.Cups using extra durable polypropylene plastic and is responsible for collecting and sanitizing the cups before each venue uses them again.
However, in order for the system to operate correctly, concert-goers will need to do their part by returning the cups to the designated recycling bins following the show.
As of now, these r.Cups are being used for craft beers and non-alcoholic drinks at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre, and will soon be implemented at the Buell Theatre as well.
If you've ever been to a concert at Red Rocks or Fiddler's Green, you've likely also seen the massive amount of waste that is produced over the course of even just one show but the venues are hoping that these new cups will help curb the amount of the aforementioned plastic waste.
