If you've been in Colorado for a long time, or maybe even a short time, you've no doubt found some fantastic local restaurants. We've probably got more fantastic family-owned local restaurants than anywhere in the world.

Some can be flashy and in your face, and others are far more subtle, but something I've learned over time is that when it comes to restaurants, you cannot judge a book by its cover. Some of these "hole-in-the-wall" spots end up being the best food you've ever had.

We have quite a few options for fried chicken around Colorado. Local and big chains like KFC, Popeye's, Churches Chicken, and even King Soopers have some pretty solid chicken too (as odd as that may sound). This particular local restaurant isn't one we'd even heard of until recently, but it looks and sounds fantastic.

Colorado's Best Fried Chicken Restaurant Is Juniper Valley Ranch

Opening in 1951 in the Colorado Springs area, this fantastic hole-in-the-wall family-run, family-style restaurant, Juniper Valley Ranch, was named the best place for fried chick in all of Colorado.

It's all served family-style, which means outside of your entree (skillet fried chicken, or baked ham, and on certain evenings you can get chicken fried steak or Nashville hot chicken) you share appetizers, made-from-scratch side dishes, etc.

You start by picking your appetizer, either Curry Consommé or Cherry Cider, which both look fantastic. You'll then get all of their sides served family style to share, including Riced Potatoes with Cream Gravy, Homemade Biscuits & Apple Butter, Cole Slaw, and Okra Casserole.

The meal is topped off with your choice of one of their fantastic complimentary desserts, including a Chocolate Sundae, Butterscotch Sundae, or Peppermint Stick Ice Cream. It's a perfect way to end a perfect family-style meal.

Juniper Valley Ranch announced on its Instagram that its 2024 season schedule will begin on March 29th. In 2023 they opened at the end of March and stayed open through mid-December so it's likely the same type of schedule. Can't wait?
