Huge ‘Retro’ Games Convention Beams Into Loveland, Colorado, in October

Nerd Alert.. this is a Nerd Alert. Or, just an alert for those looking to have some "old-school" fun as a weekend outing in Colorado.

Everyone who loves to "game" today can thank all the great games of yesteryear for inspiring today's video game makers. Here's the chance to pay homage to those engineers and geeks and all those great games they made.

There was a time, before the internet, when passing our free time meant sitting with a controller and playing an 8-bit video game. Some soda, some Doritos, and maybe a friend; that's all you need. Hard to believe, right?

That's why when a convention like this one comes along, we should all go to check it out. Bring the kids, the grandkids, bring old friends. Take a stroll down memory lane, not only looking at these vintage games but playing them as well.

While it is a ticketed event, kids 10 and under get in for free; these kids will be "floored" by these old games.

WHAT IS THE RETRO VIDEO GAMES CONVENTION IN LOVELAND, COLORADO?

It's VINCON - Happening at The Ranch.

• Saturday, October 14: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday, October 15 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

This event is not relegated to just video games; they'll also have tabletop games such as Magic: The Gathering and WarHammer 40,000. Bottom line: there will be a lot of old games at The Ranch.

WHAT OTHER EVENTS ARE HAPPENING AT THE RETRO GAMES CONVENTION?

• Live Music: Bands that are sure to entertain the attendees; there are bands that specialize in playing "video game music."
• Tournaments: They'll have dozens of tournaments, including the chance to compete for a PlayStation 5.
• Cosplay: With the myriad of characters you'll find in video games of yesteryear, the Cosplay is going to be incredible.
• Arcade games.
• Swap meets: Exchange those old games for "new" old games.
• Vintage console games.
• Vintage home computers.

HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS FOR VINCON IN LOVELAND?

Tickets start at $15 for individual days, going up to $60 for VIP Access on both days. Your ticket does come with 10 game tokens; some of the games will need 2 tokens to play. There will be a lot of free games, however.
