Coloradans That Love a Great Steak Should Avoid These 3 Chains
With the price of going out to dinner not being exactly "cheap," when Coloradans go out for steak night, they should get their money's worth. A recent list takes a look at several that you might not want to spend money at.
The good news is that Texas Roadhouse isn't on the "iffy" list of steakhouse chains that we need to think twice about. Who doesn't love Texas Roadhouse?
Just the other day, a coworker was taking his wife out for steaks for her birthday, and everybody chimed in, "Texas Roadhouse."
Coloradans Advised to Avoid Three Steakhouse Chains
I love a great steak. I've learned to not order a ribeye, even though it is my favorite steak to cook up at home. When you order a ribeye you're not ordering the best steak; get the New York Strip, trust me.
The team at Eat This, Not That released a list of four steakhouse chains that "are disappointing customers in 2024." One of those four, Black Angus does not have any Colorado locations, so we don't have to get into them.
Coloradans Should Avoid LongHorn Steakhouse
There are five LongHorn Steakhouses in Colorado (also a Longhorn Steakhouse Cafe and Gift Shop in Springfield;) I've been to the one in Fort Collins several times, but EatThis.com puts LongHorn on their list because:
Nothing turns customers away faster than a case of food poisoning. This October, a major outbreak of shigella infections was traced back to a LongHorn location in Fairview Heights, Ill. A total of 66 people tested positive for the bacteria, 26 more reported symptoms..

Coloradans Should Avoid Outback Steakhouse
With a dozen locations in the state, Northern Colorado is the only region that stands out as not having an Outback. I used to enjoy hitting up the one in Fort Collins before it closed (after 26 years) in 2021. EatThis.com says to avoid Outback Steakhouse because:
- They closed 41 locations across eight states in 2024.
- Profits are slumping as people aren't dining there, and when they do they spend less.
Coloradans Should Avoid STK Steakhouse
There is only one STK Steakhouse in Colorado, located in Denver. I remember my brother and I dining at the one in Atlantic City once; it was terribly expensive. EatThis.com put STK Steakhouse on their list of place to avoid, because:
- Horrible reviews, including a scathing Washington Post review of STK's new Washington, D.C., location compared the restaurant's interior to an amusement park and the actual food to an airplane meal, which doesn't exactly sound worthy of STK's hefty price points.
Again, on the bright side, Texas Roadhouse is in the clear; let's eat.
