Memorial Day in Northern Colorado is usually considered the unofficial start of summer. Most of the school districts are out for the summer, families plan vacations, cookouts, and more. This weekend may look a little different compared to years past.

While we have seen nearly ninety-degree days in Colorado this month, the holiday weekend is shaping up to be a wet one.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a hazardous weather outlook for much of the Front Range of Colorado for Memorial Day weekend. Starting Saturday, the possibility of thunderstorms and showers increases throughout the day. Sunday also has a good chance for thunderstorms and numerous rain showers. Lower temperatures will likely limit the likelihood of any of these storms becoming severe.

The College of DuPage NEXLAB Forecasting System shows that rainfall totals could exceed two inches or more in the Denver Metro Area and the Front Range, North into Wyoming. Eastern Larimer County and the entirety of Weld County show rainfall totals well over two inches.

Some Areas Of Northern Colorado Could See More Than Four Inches of Rain

Precipitation totals through Monday forecast over four inches in southeast Weld County. If you happen to have plans outdoors this weekend in Northern Colorado, you might want to have a backup option for your family gathering, just in case.
