Still ‘Fancy Like’? Walker Hayes Has Finally Had Enough Applebee’s [Exclusive]

It's been almost three years since Walker Hayes' song "Fancy Like" took over the nation with the now-famous lines:

"Yeah, we fancy like Applebee's on a date night / Got that Bourbon Street steak with the Oreo shake / Get some whipped cream on the top, too / Two straws, one check, girl, I got you."

We had a burning question for Walker Hayes as soon as he entered the Taste of Country Nights studio: Is he still using his Applebee's gold card, which is good for lifelong free Applebee's?

Hayes took a deep breath and had us anticipating his answer:

"You know, man, Applebee's was so good to us, and they always are ... but you know, you fatigue of a restaurant, you know what I mean?"

The "AA" singer compares going to Applebee's now to how he felt back in his earlier years, when he was working at Macaroni Grill.

"I used to work at Macaroni Grill, and I mean the food is solid and the service is amazing — their whole brand is amazing — but if I just smell the Macaroni Grill then I need to drive to another town," he shares.

"And I think we're there on Applebee's."

Hayes says he and his family, "Crushed it, so hard. We did meet and greets there, we've had to-go boxes with steaks, we've had so many melted Oreo shakes, you would not believe."

"I'd be fine if I never ate another Oreo again," he admits.

"It's funny how something great and just awesome, and one day you just wake up and it's just like, 'I can't, I can't do it again.' We're taking an Applebee's break now," Hayes reveals.

The gold card lives in Laney's wallet just in case — that way it doesn't get lost or abused.
