Human remains were found yesterday in a field of flood debris west of Loveland. The remains were found on Monday afternoon by two contract workers for the Environmental Protection Agency in the 7000-block of Highway 34. The two workers were doing hazard material assessments in an area that had been hit by the Big Thompson Flood.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies, investigators and Emergency Services personnel along with Loveland Fire and Rescue and the Larimer County Search and Rescue team responded and confirmed that they were human remains.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will provide the identification and manner and cause of death after performing an autopsy and notifying next of kin.
