Heroic Fort Collins Navy Veteran Loses Battle With Cancer
A retired chief petty officer, Harry Campbell of Fort Collins passed away this morning after a battle with stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer. Campbell served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.
As the Coloradoan reported, Campbell joined the Navy right after graduating from Fort Collins High School.
During his 20 years in the Navy, he spent much of his career working in nuclear reactors and "all the nuclear areas."
Campbell would spend his free time with other veterans and worked with youths of all levels of baseball, soccer and wrestling.
A funeral service honoring the life of Harry Campbell will begin at noon Friday at Timberline Church, 2908 S. Timberline Road. Campbell will be honored with a U.S. Navy gun salute at his graveside at Grandview Cemetery.
