Here’s How Apple is Tracking Denver, Boulder Looters
Colorado has seen its share of protestors, and in some Colorado cities, riots and looting have occurred as well. As a result, businesses that struggled through the pandemic now face the new challenge of defending their products whenever chaos strikes a city.
Apple is one of the retailers hit by looters, now they've taken measures to protect their staff and prevent further damage to stores while also releasing a statement in response to recent events.
Now, Apple is doing something to stop looters from enjoying their spoils by tracking stolen phones and alerting authorities when the devices are turned on.
Now, when illicitly obtained phones are powered on, a message appears on the screen that reads: “This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.”
Maybe this tactic will make looters think twice before destroying Apple stores and stealing their products.
