An 18-year-old Greeley man died Monday after the car he was riding in flipped onto its side and smashed into a tree in the Poudre Canyon.

According to the Coloradoan, Roberto Gutierrez was a passenger in the vehicle traveling east about 8:25 a.m. Monday near mile marker 86 in the Poudre Canyon, which is about halfway between Cameron Pass and the rock tunnel along Highway 14.

Gutierrez died at the scene. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash, but excessive speed is being investigated. Four other people were in the vehicle, but nobody else was seriously injured.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
