Greeley Police Arrest Man on Drug Charges After Crashing Car on LSD

On December 5, Greeley Police and Fire responded to an early-morning car accident that ultimately led to the arrest of a 19-year-old on felony drug charges.

According to the Greeley Tribune, it was approximately 7 a.m. when Saleem Schultz crashed his Honda Civic at 18th Street and 6th Avenue in Greeley. When police arrived on scene, they found Schultz passed out in the driver's seat. Greeley fire crews assisted in turning off the vehicle and pulling Schultz out.

Upon evaluation, police noticed Schultz's pupils were an unusual size. Furthermore, he was severely slurring his words and unable to stay awake. At this time, Schultz was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance.

While at the hospital, Schultz admitted that he had previously taken two tabs of LSD, but wasn't sure when. He continued to slur his words and nod off as police spoke with him. A blood sample was taken at 7:45 a.m.

When police searched the interior of Schultz's car, they found a slew of illegal drugs. Initially, police located a baggie containing a large amount of cocaine as well as a piece of foil with several doses of LSD inside the center console. After more searching, police recovered four baggies of cocaine, weighing a total of 34.8 grams, plus a digital scale that tested positive for cocaine residue. Police also located 36 and a half tabs of LSD. In addition, they found 63 grams of marijuana, six THC oil cartridges and four marijuana concentrate boxes.

Schultz was medically cleared from the hospital later in the day and was then taken to the Weld County Jail.

He was booked on suspicion of two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, two counts of drug possession, driving under the influence, driving while ability impaired, careless driving and driving without insurance.

Schultz has since been released from jail.
