JBS USA, the beef-producing sister company to Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., will join the plant-based meat industry in April 2020.

The Greeley beef producer will launch its line of plant-based meats with the brand name "OZO" with the subsidiary company that is headquartered in Boulder County, Planterra Foods.

“Our goal is to grow flexitarian consumption through offering a positive protein solution for everyone,”

Planterra CEO Darcey Macken

said in a prepared statement.

The original plan was to debut the OZO products at Expo West natural products conference this week, but the conference is postponed due to the fear of the Coronavirus.

Planterra is producing the plant-based meats alongside fellow Boulder company Emergy Inc., which is trying to replicate full cuts of meat using plant replacements, according to BizWest.
