Gardening in Colorado — A Spring Guide to Planting
With only a hint of snow showers left in the season gardening idea's run wild. What should you be doing now to plan for the season here's a spring guide to planting.
GARDENING IN COLORADO — THE MONTH TO MONTH GUIDE TO PLANTING:
- March: on warm days, at least 40 degree's for a few hours, water your plants, tree's and shrubs. Aerate your lawn and if you didn't fertilize in the fall it's time to do it now.
- April: here's where it get's exciting, beyond fertilizing and sharpening lawn mower blades it's time to plant! What goes in the ground? Broccoli, Cauliflower, Artichokes, Carrots and a few other crops such as Potatoes and even Arugula. (onions and herbs too) You can also start your seedling's indoors for your Cucumbers and Squash.
- May: Pruning, Trimming and Watering along with Weeding is important this time of year. Prepping your garden with nutrients is key to a successful garden. What are you planting in May? Everything you haven't planted, full swing!
