A group of seven Poudre Fire Authority firefighters headed to the Florida coast on a mission on Friday (August 30).

The group of specially-trained first responders are serving as part of a Colorado Task Force aiding emergency efforts with the impending Hurricane Dorian. Parts of Florida are forecasted to be right in the path of the storm.

Each member of the Northern Colorado team are trained to help with rescue and searches in flooded areas. They could be called upon during the aftermath of the storm.

FEMA helps fund the rescue mission.
