Fort Collins Driver Dies After Crashing Into Rock
Fort Collins Police are currently investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred late Sunday night.
According to an official press release from the City of Fort Collins, Fort Collins 911 received a call regarding a single vehicle accident at 510 East Mulberry Street on Sunday night (Mar. 28) at 10:58 p.m; when police arrived at the scene, officers located a 1991 Honda Civic turned on its side.
The individual in the vehicle, a 63-year-old man, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators already know that the Honda was traveling eastbound on Mulberry Street when it left the roadway on the north side of the road and struck a large rock, but they are still investigating the details of what caused the crash.
"This was a tragic event, and our thoughts are with the driver's family during this difficult time," said Fort Collins Police Traffic Enforcement Sergeant Sara Lynd, as per the press release.
The cause and manner of death will be released by the Larimer County Coroner's Office at a later date.
