Have you noticed that we are not seeing as many grasshoppers, mosquitos, and other annoying bugs outside in Colorado? That is one of the many benefits of Summer ending in Colorado. Most of the bugs are dying.

Fall Flies in Colorado

Northern Coloradans on Reddit have voiced their frustration with fall flies. A user posted how many flies they have had stuck on a trap in their home and many other users started sharing their experiences.

I got seriously over run with them one year. I mean the ceiling was covered in them. Took literal months to get them all with a vacuum cleaner... the worst smelling bait ever, that worked, and a harbor freight electric tennis racket shaped taser. The taser was the most fun.- u/Due_Guitar8964

It seems quite odd that fall would be the season of flies in Colorado. Here is an explanation.

You might have rolled your eyes earlier. We know that there are flies all times of the year, however, fall and winter flies are much more likely to be in your home in the winter months. According to Colorado State University, Coloradans are more likely to see blue bottle flies more often during this time of the year.

The blue bottle flies are seeking your home for shelter and warmth. These flies often reproduce during warmer months, so you may be seeing more young blue bottle flies in your home as well.

During these months, blue bottle flies do not move as much either, making them easier to eliminate. They are trying to conserve energy to stay warm.
